Tiina Palmu is Helsinki based Finnish artist working mainly with video installations based on experiential and internalized works. Often the foundation of her art is based on the strictly trimmed act or skill that the artist had learned, which expands into the symbol of the meanings found around the act, such as the need for contact and the role of language, structure of mind, desires and aspirations, and questioning useful and useless roles.

Palmu aims to disrupt the traditional cinematic presentation of video art, which brings them more in line with painting: her projected video works often employ a backdrop that has the effect of making the video image seem more object-like. Palmu is very particular about the details in her works, sometimes calling attention to seemingly banal matters, thereby rendering them meaningful and interesting. For Palmu the choice of viewpoint is also a kind of political act.
